Meet Our Sister of the Month: Lauren West!

With such busy lives, we can't always make it to every event or meet every sister. Our "Sister of the Month" posts give you the chance to get to know a sister you may not have met before or learn a new fun fact about her. Each month we will select a member of our alum association to highlight. If you have any questions or would like to reach out to our Sister of the Month, please email us at laalumpresident@gmail.com.

April's Sister of the Month: Lauren West

1.       What is your name? Lauren West (maiden name Croft)
2.       What is your Hometown?  I grew up in Agoura Hills, CA
3.       What year were you initiated into Alpha Xi Delta? Fall 2002
4.       What chapter and school were you initiated into? Delta Rho at Cal State Northridge
5.       What is your favorite collegiate memory? The candle ceremony I had in my very last active meeting to announce my engagement.
6.       What is your favorite post-college Alpha Xi Delta memory? Being an advisor, I've had so many wonderful experiences shared with both active sisters and an alumnae. I think my favorite memory was something I actually never did while I was an active but got to do a couple of years ago after pref night--mattress surfing down the stairs at the AXiD house! Now I know what I was missing having never lived in!
7.       Why is it important for you to stay connected to Alpha Xi Delta through our alumni association? Alpha Xi Delta was a huge part of my life in college, but has become even more important in my post-college life. I met some of my best friends and bridesmaids in the house, and after being connected now through motherhood to my sisters and fellow advisors while being around the chapter now, has given me a great appreciation for what I have and thankful for all my experiences. Honestly, its very hard to articulate just what Alpha Xi Delta means to me--its just a feeling of being home.
8.       What is your current occupation?  I am a stay at home mommy to my two little legacies--Charlotte (age 4) and Norah (age 20 months), and am also a family and newborn photographer.
9.       Do you have any hobbies? Photography has been a huge passion and hobby of mine. Aside from that, I just love going out with my girlfriends and traveling (whenever possible!)
10.   Please share a fun fact we may not know about you. I have had an obsession with Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris!) since I was in middle school! I mean, he's like a fine wine... ;)
11.   Where is your favorite restaurant in the Los Angeles area? Favorite Dish? I don't really have a favorite restaurant (well, my favorite sushi place just closed)--I just love sushi and have lots of favorite spots to eat at.
12.   What is your favorite activity in the Los Angeles area? I love taking my girls to Disneyland!
13.   If you could meet one famous person (past or present) who would it be? I would loved to have met Lucille Ball. Just always had a fascination with her and grew up watching "I Love Lucy."
14.   What song would you say is your anthem right now? Why? I suppose since it works like magic to calm my little one down, it would be the "Hello" song from Ladybug Music (a class I take with Norah). I just find myself singing it 100x a day!
15.   Where was your favorite vacation? Or where would you like to visit? The best vacation ever was my honeymoon to Moorea, Tahiti. It was incredible and I would love to go back one day! But as far as where I would like to visit and haven't yet been, Greece is currently at the top of my list.
