Bundled in our best LA winter jackets, sisters met under the giant balloon AXD sign to stoll along the streets of Burbank in awe of the twinkling lights and holiday splendor at the Metrolink Holiday Toy Express. With generous hearts and with children with autism in mind, sisters donated toys and games for children in need. Over 20 Alpha Xi's and family members then journeyed to dinner as we packed BJ's restaurant with laughter, sisterhood, and so much holiday spirit!
Thanks to Mirai for planning and organizing and thanks for the Burbank Herald for mentioning us in the news! Alpha Xi Alums in the News!
Happy Holidays Sisters! We'll look forward to more fabulous events and gatherings in the new year!

Meet a New Sister
In an effort to introduce you to other fabulous sisters in the LA area, please meet Dani!
Dani is a serious sports fan who loves to support her teams. The NY Yankees, the SF 49ers, the Texas Longhorns, the Lakers, and the Dodgers are her absolute favorites, and each team has a special meaning or representation in her life (Ask her about it!). She also enjoys spending time with her beloved family and friends, and running her own business. She began a pet-sitting/house-sitting business called "Sit On It" while she was in college, and it has continued on for over 16 years!
Dani is also passionate about giving back and prides herself on doing three big philanthropic walks a year - Walk Now for Autism Speaks, the Revlon Run/Walk for Women, and the AIDS Walk. She was appointed as the West Territory Philanthropy Director last year, and we couldn't be more proud! She loves working with Alpha Xi Delta on a National Level because it affords her the opportunity to reach out to chapters across the coast about something she believes in strongly, philanthropy.
Dani was initiated in 1997 as a Junior at California State Northridge, where she later graduated with a degree in Psychology. Alpha Xi Delta has continued to be important to her and as she's been an Advisor for the local collegiate chapter, Delta Rho, for 10+ years. She also served on the executive board of the LA Alumnae association for four years.
"I have always believed in Alpha Xi Delta. I love being a part of an association that helps continue the bonds and friendships of our Fraternity after the college experience." -Dani
Dani is an incredible woman with a big heart and lucky for you, she's an Alpha Xi in LA! Look for her pretty smile at our next event.

Meet a New Sister
In an effort to introduce you to some of the fabulous sisters who live in and around LA, please meet Krista!
Krista was initiated into the Beta Xi Chapter at Marietta College in Ohio, in 1998. As a collegiate she had an amazing Alpha Xi Delta experience which included living in a haunted sorority house (True story! Ask her about it!) Alpha Xi Delta continued being a wonderful part of Krista's life after graduation, as well. In fact, Krista's not sure she would have stayed so long in LA without the friends she's met through the Association!
Krista, originally from North Carolina, moved to LA in 2002 to pursue acting. She's done a variety of acting work ranging from various plays to television spots on The Discovery Channel and TLC, even working briefly on West Wing. In the mean time, Krista built a career "by accident" on the side, in nonprofit and is now the Director of a Salvation Army Program called Westwood Transitional Village, that provides transitional housing and child care to homeless and low income families.
Krista has a wonderful family including a great boyfriend, Tony, two big brothers, Eric and Scot, her Dad and her Mom, Anita (who Krista took as a "little sis" when she was initiated as an alumnae member at Marietta in 2000 - how cool is that??)
Krista continues to try to give back to Alpha Xi Delta, which has given her so much. Currently she's the collegiate advisor for Public Relations at Cal State Northridge's chapter and is the Membership VP for the LA Alumnae Association.
Be sure to reach out to Krista at our next event, you will be so glad that you did!

Meet a New Sister
In an effort to help introduce you to other fabulous Alpha Xi sisters in the LA area, please meet Bobbi!
Bobbi was initiated as an ETA in 1951 at Syracuse University where she enjoyed many beautiful and lasting friendships, and also a few crazy fun times. (Ask her about the time she snuck out of the sorority house after hours and couldn't get back in!)
She has two lovely, grown children; Bob and Lisa, whom are both adopted. Bobbi is constantly on the go, and has visited many exotic locations. Recently she returned from Central America with her son. She's also been to India, Morocco, Europe, China, Tibet, Thailand, and more. She's been to over 35 countries in all!
When she's not traveling, Bobbi stays busy as an Art Therapist and is still an active member of the America Art Therapy Association. She also volunteers with the red cross and has responded to over 26 natural disasters. Until 2007 she was also a pro bono therapist for Aids Project LA.
Bobbi was awarded Order of the Pearl during Founders Day this year, so be sure to congratulate her for her outstanding sisterhood and service to Alpha Xi Delta at our next event. Bobbi's a special part of the Los Angeles Alumnae Association, and we love her!

The summer pancake cookoff will therefore be postponed and instead we're planning a more elaborate celebration to make the gathering worthy of such a significant event.

Thank you!
A very special thank you to those sisters and friends who participated in the 2011 Walk Now for Autism Speaks. With a team of over 108 collegiate and alumnae members, Team Alpha Xi Delta made a difference in our community by showing massive support and raising over $18,000 for Autism Speaks.
