Meet our Sister of the Month: Sabrina Garza!

With such busy lives, we can't always make it to every event or meet every sister. Our "Sister of the Month" posts will give you the chance to get to know a sister you may not have met before or learn a new fun fact about her. February's Sister of the Month: Sabrina Garza

1. What is your name?  Sabrina Garza

2. What is your Hometown?  Corpus Christi, Texas

3. What year were you initiated into Alpha Xi Delta?  2004

4. What chapter and school were you initiated into? The University of Texas; Beta Alpha

5. What is your favorite collegiate memory? Winning the 2005 Football National Championship game.  Hook 'em Horns! \m/

6. What is your favorite post-college Alpha Xi Delta memory?  One of my best friends, Veronica, recently got married in Las Vegas.  It was a huge Alpha Xi Delta reunion!  We were able to make even more fun and unforgettable memories with my sisters.

7. Why is it important for you to stay connected to Alpha Xi Delta through our alumni association? It's important to stay connected to an alumnae association because it provides the opportunity to network and meet AXiD's from all over the country.  This is really important to me because I am new to Los Angeles and being involved has allowed me to meet some amazing women.

8. What is your current occupation?  Environmental Scientist

9. Do you have any hobbies?  I really enjoy dancing, all sports, and playing kickball.  And not just school yard kickball, but actual organized kickball.  I've been playing kickball since the 1st grade.

10. Please share a fun fact we may not know about you.  I was (and let's be serious I still am), a huge teeny bopper.  You can definitely find me at a Backstreet Boys or Britney or New Kids on the Block concert!  If anyone wants to hear about it, I'm always ready to talk about Jordan Knight serenading me at a concert.

11. Where is your favorite restaurant in the Los Angeles area? Favorite Dish?  I'm still looking for it...I guess after 1 year of living here I should have a place by now, but I haven't been as lucky.  I'm always down for sushi so that's a favorite restaurant I'll have to look for.

12. What is your favorite activity in the Los Angeles area?  I live a couple of blocks away from the beach so I like going when I can.  I also like riding my bike on the beach path with my fur-baby, Scarlett.  My 8 pound Yorkie loves riding in the basket.

13. If you could meet one famous person (past or present) who would it be? Beyonce because she is the ultimate diva.

14. What song would you say is your anthem right now? Why? Really into Taylor Swift's "Blankspace" because of it's catchy tune and fun lyrics.

15. Where was your favorite vacation? Or where would you like to visit?  Europe.  I was able to study abroad in Italy with three other AXiD sisters.  We were also able to visit Barcelona and Paris.  I'm definitely overdue for another European vacation

Welcome to 2015!

Happy New Year to all! 2015 brings us a new executive board bursting with excitement and ideas for ways our local Alpha Xi Delta's to connect and have fun! Our new executive board is Angela Pettinelli (President), Mirai Booth-Ong (VP of Finance), Kelli Wheeler (VP of Events), Rachel Godfrey (VP of Membership and Public Relations), Sabrina Garza (Secretary/Panhellenic Delegate), and Felicia White (Philanthropy Chair). Please feel free to reach out to any of these woman with thoughts and ideas. Or you can always send an email to laalumpresident@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!


We have many ideas we are looking to plan for you this coming up year. We already have our first event  planned for February 6th at Dave & Buster's in Hollywood that will also be a philanthropy! (See our event page on Facebook: Alpha Xi Delta's Dave & Buster's Take Over!) We also want to offer more standing monthly events. So starting in February, we will schedule a workout or active event the third Saturday of each month. February 21st we will be hiking the Fryman Canyon trail in Studio City at 11:00am. Starting in March, the first Friday of each month we will meet up at various bars and restaurants throughout the Los Angeles area for happy hour! March 6th will be at Copa d'Oro in Santa Monica. More things you can look forward to this year include: Our "Sister of the Month" returning in February, attending sporting events, philanthropy events, and opportunities to learn new skills and make connections.

Delta Rho's 50th Anniversary Gala

Come Celebrate the Last 50 Years with Delta Rho! 

A Weekend You Won't Want To Miss! 

Have you heard?! Our local collegiate chapter, Delta Rho at California State University, Northridge, is celebrating their 50th anniversary! Come celebrate this exciting and rewarding time with your sisters! 

Delta Rho’s 50^th Anniversary Gala is going to be one event you do not want to miss! Our sister have planned a fun filled night full of dancing and catching up with everyone. The gala will take place The Garland in North Hollywood on October 25th at 6pm. Tickets are available at the early bird price of $100 each through September 15th, 2014 and will increase to $125 each on September 16th, 2014. Spouses and significant others are welcome. You can purchase tickets here with a processing fee or mail a check payable to Alpha Xi Delta to Angela Pettinelli, 14853 Hartsook Street, Unit 6, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. In addition to the Gala, the following will be taking place over the weekend:

Friday, October 24th ~ free time to reunite with sisters for dinner, drinks, and more.

Saturday, October 25th ~ campus and chapter house tours will be available during the day and guided by collegiate sisters at no charge. We encourage you to see how things have changed over the years. We have a tentative rose petal event scheduled, but is dependent on sisters bringing their daughters. Please do include daughter's name(s) and age(s) if you would like to participate.

Sunday, October 26th ~ free time to catch-up with your sisters over breakfast or shopping before heading home.

BikiXis and Babes

Living in Southern California, we LOVE the sun! The only thing we love more than the sun is hanging out with our sisters at a pool party! Our alumnae group is excited to announce our upcoming event.  The details are below and there will be an evite sent out on July 9th. Celebrating 50 AmaXIng Years!

This year is very special to Alpha Xi Delta in the LA region. Not only have we seen our alumni group grow and add members who are from all areas of the country, but our own collegiate chapter has a major milestone coming up.

Delta Rho’s 50^th Anniversary is this year!
