Recently I have been inspired by three amazing women who received
the Order of the Pearl at our Southern California Founder’s Day. June Adler,
Helen Haaga, and Virginia Philp were all initiated together at the Gamma Gamma
chapter at the University of Arizona!
Listening to them speak about their experiences and time in Alpha Xi
Delta so far, touched my heart. I realized I wanted that to be me some day.
Though we may not always be able to keep in touch, as sisters, we will always
be there for each other. It may be tomorrow
over lunch or years down the road but our bond as sisters allows us the opportunities
to reconnect at any point in our lives. This is why I am part of an alumni
association, why we reach out to welcome all sisters and why we make the effort
to remember what it means to be an Alpha Xi Delta.
Our latest Drinks With My Xi’s was a karaoke night at Sardo’s
in Burbank. We had so much fun and discovered a few sisters can really sing! Leslie
won “Best Karaoke-er”, Janis won “Better Than Expected” and Rachel won for “Best
Song Choice”. We had a fantastic time and hope to see you at our next Drinks With
My Xi’s event on June 5th. More details to come!
Since the last blog, we have also participated in two
philanthropy events! We held our first FunFit event that doubled as a mixer with the local chapter, Delta Rho at California State University, Northridge. Together we worked out with a Zumba instructor and raised money for Autism Speaks! The second event was the annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks
at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. We had a great showing of alumni and even a couple Rose Petals!
Looking forward, our events are going to include a highly
anticipated Wine and Paint night on May 23rd at Color Me Mine in
Studio City! Our Newsletter has more information. Invite to come as well! We will also be holding an event for sisters and their families
on June 14th. Please check back for more info.
